We have all heard the adage, “prevention is better than cure” and with dental issues, this couldn’t ring truer. Dental problems, if left unaddressed, can escalate and lead to more significant complications down the road. That’s where restorative dentistry can step in as a crucial preventive measure, offering timely interventions to preserve oral health and prevent further damage.

Early Intervention

Early intervention is the cornerstone of proactive dental care. Whether it’s decay, fractures or infections, addressing these issues promptly is paramount to preventing their progression. As prosthodontists, our restorative dentistry treatments aim to mend compromised teeth and reinstate their functionality, effectively halting the advancement of dental problems and averting potential serious complications from arising.

Tooth Decay

One of the most common dental issues today is tooth decay. Left untreated, decay can spread deeper into the tooth, leading to pain, infection and eventual tooth loss. Our prosthodontic restorative dentistry treatments such as dental fillings, inlays and onlays and dental crowns allow us to intervene early in the decay process, restoring the tooth’s structure and preventing the need for more invasive treatments like root canals or extractions later.

Tooth Fractures

Similarly, fractures in teeth, whether due to trauma or wear and tear, can weaken the tooth’s integrity and make it more susceptible to further damage. Implementing a restorative procedure like dental veneers can effectively repair minor fractures, strengthening the tooth and preventing cracks from worsening over time.

Dental Infections

Dental infections, such as abscesses or gum disease, are not only painful but can also have systemic health implications if left untreated. Root canal therapy, a common restorative procedure, removes infected tissue from within the tooth, alleviating pain and preventing the spread of infection to surrounding tissues. Our prosthodontists, Drs. Goggins, Aguirre, Pitz, Poineal and Chertok can place a dental crown after you have had a root canal treatment done by your dentist. When it comes to placing a crown, we use only premium materials and take the time to do it right, with our dental crowns expertly crafted by our in-house master lab technicians

Holistic Approach

Did you know that preserving natural teeth through restorative interventions contributes to better oral health outcomes and overall well-being? Not only that, but restorative dentistry goes beyond merely repairing damaged teeth; it aims to restore aesthetics and function as well. This holistic approach ensures that you not only regain your smile but can chew and speak comfortably, enhancing your overall quality of life.

Dental Exams and Cleanings

Regular dental exams and dental cleanings are essential for early detection of dental issues, allowing for timely intervention and prevention of further damage. Our skilled prosthodontists are not only trained in restorative techniques but we can assess your oral health, identify potential problems, and recommend appropriate treatments to preserve and restore optimal dental function.

Call Today

Early intervention is the key to a healthy smile. Our prosthodontic team can play a pivotal role in preventing further damage and preserving oral health by addressing common dental problems. Through timely interventions, our restorative treatments not only repair damaged teeth but also help prevent more serious complications later. Because our prosthodontists oversee all lab work, rest assured it will meet the highest standards. If are looking for quality dental care, please call our office at 303-586-1019 to schedule a visit.

Practicing preventive dental care is one of the most crucial goals to maintain good oral health and prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease from invading your smile. Dental problems can be painful, costly, and time-consuming to treat, so it is essential to take preventative measures to keep your pearly whites and gums as healthy as possible. Here are some tips on how to practice preventive dental care for a healthier, more beautiful smile!

Preventative Dental Care Tips

1 – Brush your teeth every single day. One of the most important steps you can take to prevent tooth decay and periodontal disease is to brush your teeth daily without fail. A good rule of thumb is brushing your teeth twice a day (for at least two minutes each session). Use a fluoride toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush to gently clean your teeth and gums.

2 – Floss at least once a day. Flossing is yet another essential part of practicing preventive dental care. It helps to clear away dental plaque and food particles between teeth and along your gum line. There are many flossing options available to you, so be sure to find one that works best for you and then do it!

3 – Limit sweet and acidic foods and beverages. Sugary and acidic foods and drinks can erode tooth enamel and lead to cavities and tooth decay. You want to limit your intake of these items, such as candy, soda, and citrus fruits, take the time to brush your teeth or rinse your mouth with water afterward to remove any lingering sugar or acid.

4 – See our prosthodontists regularly. Routine dental checkups are essential to maintaining good oral health and preventing dental problems. Our skilled prosthodontists can detect early signs of tooth decay and periodontal disease and recommend treatment before the problems worsen. They can also clean your teeth and remove any plaque or tartar buildup, which can otherwise leave you facing tooth decay and gum disease.

5 – Rinse with mouthwash. Mouthwash is another useful tool for preventing tooth decay and gum disease. It can help kill bacteria and freshen your breath to complement your daily flossing and brushing. A good choice of mouthwash is one that contains fluoride and antimicrobial agents and use it as recommended.

6 – Kick the smoking habit. Smoking leads to a host of dental problems, including tooth decay, gum disease and oral cancer. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your oral and overall health!.

Call to Schedule

Practicing preventive dental care is essential to maintaining good oral health and preventing tooth decay and periodontal disease. Our prosthodontists, Drs. Goggins, Aguirre, Pitz, Poineal and Chertok are here to help you learn proper oral health care to implement at home. We actively promote the importance of preventive care in Broomfield, Colorado. When it comes to your New Year’s resolutions, don’t forget to put your oral health on the list! Our Denver Restorative Dentistry team in Bloomfield, CO, specializes in providing high-quality dental restorations that can complete your smile. But we also work with you to keep your smile as healthy as possible to prevent dental damage.

We are committed to helping your teeth and gums stay healthy and strong all year round. Our comprehensive dental cleanings and exams are simple but essential treatments for keeping your smile safe. When you come in for a dental checkup, our skilled dental hygienists will take good care of you. You can count on receiving a professional teeth cleaning that will leave your teeth smooth and gleaming. You will also receive a thorough dental exam from our experienced prosthodontists to make sure your oral health is optimal. During your teeth cleaning appointment, you can look forward to the following treatment.

Routine Dental Cleaning and Exam

-Our hygienist will remove all the plaque or tartar (dental calculus) from your teeth and below the gumline to prevent tooth decay and gum disease from taking hold.

-Your pearly whites will then be thoroughly flossed and polished to make them shine.

-Our prosthodontists will examine your mouth to spot any harmful dental problems that might be developing.

-We may use dental X-rays to evaluate your smile more intensively to detect issues that might not be visible with a visual inspection.

Our biannual dental cleanings allow us to maximize your preventative dental care regularly. These routine dental cleanings and exams are one of the most valuable ways to help you keep your smile healthy. The goal is to help you prevent tooth-destroying cavities and advancing gum disease (periodontal disease). These regular checkups are designed to spot problems early so they can be treated before they permanently damage teeth and gums and while treatment is least invasive and costly.

Schedule Your Dental Cleaning and Exam

Completing your at-home dental care with daily brushing and flossing, our dental cleanings and exams are two of the most basic yet vital preventive treatments we provide for you. Each time you come in for your dental cleaning and checkup, you can expect a clean bill of health or the information you need to achieve that goal. This New Year’s, be sure to put your smile on the list of resolutions so your smile can continue to serve you well in the years to come!

Please call 303-586-1019 or Schedule an appointment on our online portal for your next cleaning and exam. Drs. Goggins, Aguirre, Pitz, Poineal or Chertok look. June is here and that means national Oral Health Month is too! This is a great time to focus on taking better care of your pearly whites and your gums so you can have many years of healthier smiles to show off. According to the American Dental Association, dental health has come a long way since 5,000 years ago when the first known recorded dentist, Egyptian Hesi-Res took care of people’s teeth!

Dental History

-As recently as the 17th century, white enamel was starting to be used on the teeth and nitrous oxide was used to help people relax while getting dental care as comfortably as possible.

-Long before Covid-19, the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the 19th century made personal protective equipment PPE a thing for dental healthcare professionals.

-And if you like reclining while your mouth is being worked on, you can thank the American dentist, Josiah Flagg, for creating the first dental chair as we know it, complete with extended armrests that held medical instruments and even an adjustable headrest.

-While the 1800s saw the beginning of toothpaste in tubes, commercial floss arrived in 1882, and in 1960, electric toothbrushes also became a thing here in the states.

Daily Dental Care

Your mouth needs daily attention because while your body can heal itself your teeth can’t! And if your teeth are in poor health, that means your body won’t be far behind because weak or missing teeth can’t properly get the nutrients you need from the food you eat. Fresh fruit and veggies and chewy meats, all need strong teeth to bite, chew and eat properly. Strong tooth roots, supported gum tissue and healthy bone all work together to keep your teeth and body healthy.

Were you aware that flossing, along with daily brushing can prolong your life expectancy by up to six years? Flossing helps get rid of harmful dental plaque and tartar so it doesn’t spread throughout your body. And while brushing is crucial, flossing helps keep your mouth healthier while protecting against heart disease, oral cancers, Alzheimer’s, kidney failure and diabetes by cleaning in between teeth and below the gum line to get rid of harmful bacteria.

Smiling With Confidence

If you’re proud of your healthy smile, show it off! You can smile without embarrassment and share your oral hygiene tips with those you love! If you have issues with your smile, now is the time to take care of them before they get worse. We are happy

You might be wondering, what mental health has to do with root canals? Mental health awareness helps us understand more about facing our dental fears and anxiety, very real concerns that can have a negative impact on your oral and overall health if you put off having necessary and routine dental care. If your smile is sick it affects the rest of your body, especially if there is untreated inflammation or infection which can spread to other areas of the body from the mouth, digestive tract and bloodstream. Keeping your smile cavity-and-gum-disease-free is vital to your overall health and well-being.

Dental Anxiety, Fear and Phobias

According to the Journal Of Dental Hygiene – https://jdh.adha.org/content/91/1/30 – there is a difference between dental anxiety, fear and phobia. While anxiety is considered a reaction to a perceived threat (real or not) it can unfortunately manifest both physically and emotionally. Worrying about treatment expenses and expecting pain can be distressing. Phobias arise from fear and get overwhelming. But 50-80% of American adults admit to some levels of anxiety around seeing the dentist. We probably all know family, friends and co-workers (or even ourselves) who delay getting dental care because of a bad experience in their past. Or maybe they don’t like lying there feeling vulnerable while people in masks poke around inside their mouths with metal instruments.

Root Canals

Speaking of anxiety and pain, too many people are still scared about root canals being painful. But a lot of advancements have happened over the years, especially around common root canals. Like routine dental fillings and tooth extractions, and root canals have come a long way with cutting-edge techniques, state-of-the-art tools (lasers instead of drills) and better dental sedation. All of these work together to make dental care easier, safer and more comfortable than ever before, and yes, even with root canals!

If you have been putting off dental care, rest assured that our Denver Restorative Dentistry team in Broomfield, CO, can give you the pain-free care your smile deserves. Call us today at 303-586-1019 to learn more or schedule an appointment with one of our skilled prosthodontists. Dr. Goggins, Dr. Aguirre, Dr. Pitz, and Dr. Poineal are here to help!

Our Denver Restorative Dentistry team in Broomfield, CO, is pleased to offer you the latest in advanced dental technology so you can always be assured that you will receive the highest level of dental care possible in the most comfortable way.

Cone Beam 3D imaging technology: Also called CBCT, this tool is an imaging system that provides our prosthodontists with a three-dimensional image reconstruction of your teeth, mouth, jaw, neck, ears, nose and throat. We use it to better diagnose and evaluate your oral issues and to plan effective treatments.

Intraoral Camera: Our intraoral camera gives us a closer look at different areas in your smile. This tool is tiny and easy to maneuver in your mouth while allowing us to see angles that we couldn’t easily view otherwise. It also lets us better diagnose your oral health and pinpoint dental problems, such as tooth decay, periodontal disease, cracked or chipped teeth. An additional advantage offered by this camera is that it provides images so you can better understand your oral health and the potential dental treatments. We can even send these images to other dentists and specialists as needed.

Digital Impressions: To make those important impressions of your teeth for various procedures that are most comfortable for you, we are pleased to be able to use digital impressions. Dr. Goggins, Dr. Aguirre, Dr. Pitz and our team are trained to accurately take various kinds of oral impressions so we can make improvements to your mouth. These impressions are quicker, easier, and more comfortable than their traditional counterparts which were way more invasive. Remember, we try to make your experience as comfortable as possible, and this is an invaluable tool that makes this possible. If you have ever gagged while getting impressions and molds made, you know exactly what we mean! This digital impression technology offers these benefits:

-They are great for creating dental restorations like dental crowns.
-There’s no messy “goop” left behind for you to deal with afterward.
-We can take the scanner out immediately, reposition it more comfortably and stop and start as needed.
-They require far less time than traditional impressions to make, helping us to more minimize time spent during your appointment.

Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing:  Also called CAD/CAM, this state-of-the-art software and equipment is awesome for use in restorative treatments, helping our prosthodontists and master dental lab technicians alike. With it, we can design and create restorations like veneers and crowns, full hybrid arches and bridges. It also facilitates planning more precise and effective treatment tailored to your needs.

We welcome you to reach out to our office if you have any questions about the advanced technology we use for your treatments, or if you have concerns about your smile. We look forward to helping you create a stellar smile in 2022!

November is a busy time with National Brush Day and Thanksgiving making it also the perfect time to use your dental insurance benefits as the year draws to a close. Denver Restorative Dentistry is grateful for all of our patients and families and look forward to seeing your smiles when you come in to get the quality dental care you deserve!

Your smile deserves to be healthy, beautiful and strong and we are thrilled to be a part of it. In honor of National brush day, we encourage you to help your kids brush and floss every day to keep cavities, tooth decay and gum disease away! Especially when enjoying the holiday treats with autumn in full swing and the temperatures dropping! Get out those cozy sweaters, warm apple cider, pumpkin and apple pies!

National Brush Day is also a great time to review your children’s brushing habits and emphasize the importance of daily care so their teeth and gums thrive! It’s a good idea to get your children to brush after eating sweets, and since sweets are the number one factor for tooth decay, good brushing habits are essential!

Along with daily oral care, remember that regular dental cleanings and exams are needed to keep teeth and gums healthy and strong. As the year is fast drawing to a close, time is running out to use (or lose) your dental insurance benefits, most of which run out on December 31st, and that’s a shame since you’ve already paid your premiums! The good news is, if you are scheduling cleanings and exams, they are considered preventative care so they will be covered at 100%!

Our team is grateful to be your premier prosthodontic dental practice in the Denver metro area. Our skilled prosthodontists have specialized expertise in dental implants, dentures, cosmetic dentistry and restorative dentistry. We provide your family with a full range of dental services from routine cleanings and exams to veneers to full mouth reconstructions. We encourage you to make the most of your dental insurance benefits, so please call 303-586-1019 today to schedule your appointment with Dr. Goggins, Dr. Aguirre or Dr. Pitz. Your smile will thank you!
