When you’re taking care of your mouth, do you ever notice that your gums start to bleed? Despite what you may have heard, bleeding gums aren’t normal. While your gums might bleed for a number of reasons, there may be several things you can do to avoid the issue.

Your gums may be bleeding if you have an issue such as gum disease. There are a number of things you can consider doing to benefit the health of your teeth and prevent gum disease. For example, did you know that simply brushing or flossing could actually prevent the issue? However, other instances could require a deeper cleaning to address.

If you haven’t flossed for some time, your gums might also bleed. This is not typically a serious issue, but if the bleeding doesn’t stop after a week, we recommend scheduling an appointment with our team. Similarly, if you brush too hard or with a brush that has firm bristles, your gums might bleed. We recommend speaking to our dentist to learn more about the best brush for you.

Certain medications can also cause your gums to bleed, so please remember to tell our team about any medications you may be taking when you visit us. If you’re interested in learning more, please don’t hesitate to give Denver Restorative Dentistry a call at 303-586-1019. Dr. Taylor Goggins and our team look forward to hearing from you soon.

Have you ever heard of impacted teeth? Do you ever wonder exactly what an impacted tooth could do the health of your smile? Do you know what you can do to address this issue? Fortunately, there are a number of things you could consider doing.

If you have an impacted tooth, you could have to cope with a number of serious problems. For instance, an impacted tooth may push against your other teeth, shifting their position. If your impacted tooth is a wisdom tooth, it could undo dental work you’ve had or could make new dental work a necessity. However, an impacted tooth—which is most commonly a wisdom tooth—can be completely painless, and you may not realize you have an issue.

If you have an impacted tooth, your gums could also swell or become infected. This may be painful and could cause infections in your other teeth. An impacted tooth could also lead to infections in your jaw and ear as well. You may be able to recognize an impacted tooth if you have a constant bad taste in your mouth, bad breath, or pain when you bite or chew.

Typically, our team can address this issue simply by removing the tooth. If you’re interested in learning more about impacted teeth, please don’t hesitate to contact Denver Restorative Dentistry at 303-586-1019. Dr. Goggins, Dr. Esguerra and the rest of our team are always happy to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to hearing from you soon!
